Our interviewee today is Sarah Rackwitz, an organization expert. Sarah studied clothing technology and is therefore a true expert when it comes to textiles, from different qualities to processing and care. After 17 years as a project manager in the automotive industry, she has now turned her passion into her profession and completed further training as an organization expert at the Center for Professional Organizers. Sarah relies on clear structures in her work and places great emphasis on sustainability.
»Order at home and in the wardrobe«
As an organization expert, you get to look into many closets. Are there things that always catch your eye?
Yes, there are certain patterns I encounter again and again! A common problem is that many people have too much clothing that they don't wear – often due to sentimental value or because they're waiting for the "right opportunity." This creates a lack of clarity, and they often only use the same items. Wardrobes then tend to be a source of frustration, as the potential of the garments isn't utilized. A clear structure and an awareness of possible combinations can help you use your wardrobe more efficiently and avoid daily frustration.
For those of you who are short on time: Do you have three tips for quickly getting your wardrobe in order?
Sort out immediately: If a piece of clothing is damaged, has stains, or you simply don't enjoy wearing it anymore, sort it out immediately. This frees up space and allows you to keep only what you truly value.
Group by category: Hang shirts, pants, and dresses together so you can see everything at a glance and select items quickly.
Use consistent organizers and hangers: Uniform hangers and matching storage solutions create structure and a harmonious overall impression – your closet will immediately appear neater and tidier.
At MAWA, we're particularly passionate about coat hangers. Which hangers do you recommend to your customers, and what do you value?
I recommend MAWA metal hangers to my customers because of their unique combination of a uniform, great look and sophisticated functionality. They're non-slip, space-saving, and gentle on clothes—a real helper for keeping your closet organized. They're also made in Germany and sustainably produced, making them a durable and environmentally friendly choice.
Do you already know our Silhouette coat hanger with skirt hook?
Not only does it feature our practical collar shape, but it also offers a bar and skirt hooks, making it universally usable for tops, suits, trousers, or skirts! Everything your closet needs.
How do you imagine your dream wardrobe – and do you already have it like this in your home?
My dream closet is a mix of functionality and style. I imagine an open closet where I can see everything at a glance and that also looks great. Every item has its own place, and putting it away is just as easy as taking it out – without the clothes getting creased. For me, the perfect combination of shelves, drawers, a trouser pull-out, and clothes rails creates order and clarity. I'm already very happy with my own closet, but since my job constantly inspires me, I'm constantly optimizing it.
