    A look behind the scenes:

75 Years of MAWA - Curiosities & Other Stories

75 years of MAWA means three-quarters of a century of history, tradition, and quality made in Germany, but also three-quarters of a century of innovation and sustainability. But that's not all. It's not just the story of a brand, but also the story of the people who made MAWA what it is today. That's why we want to take a look behind the scenes today and tell the most curious stories of the past 75 years. And who knows them better than our employees?

First, we'll let Cornelia Kaiser, our Head of Sales, speak. She has worked at MAWA for more than 20 years and has already experienced quite a bit.

Cornelia, tell us your funniest experiences at MAWA!

Cornelia: A few things immediately come to mind. For example, we employees have had to go to the police several times to give our fingerprints. Luckily, it was always because there had been a break-in. I witnessed the first break-in when I was still an apprentice in accounting, a good 20 years ago. Back then, we still had a huge safe in use, and it was broken into. I was the first one in the office that morning and was wondering who had caused such a mess. 20 years later, we're both still here. I came because I like it here. The safe, however, more because it can't be easily removed.

That sounds adventurous! What was kept in the safe?

Cornelia : In addition to the jewelry of Mrs. Wagner, the wife of our founder, the wages of the employees were also kept there.

You've been a part of MAWA for so long. Surely you can think of another funny story?

Cornelia : Yes, of course. Once, certain coat hangers weren't ready for the trade fair. I had to go to the paint store and buy a can of the right paint. We spent the night spraying the hangers and then left for the trade fair early the next morning. Luckily, the hangers had dried by then!

That really doesn't happen every year! As head of sales, you probably know all the models inside and out. Which is your absolute favorite?

Cornelia : Of course, all of them! But if I had to choose one, it would be the Silhouette Light FT lightweight frame. We've actually recently started offering it in Latte Macchiato. I really like the color. It's still an absolute insider tip!

Pssst! And because we love the hanger so much, we want to share it with our customers. Take advantage of a €5 discount on our new addition with code LATTE*

But it's not just the sales department that has some funny stories to tell. Our production department also has some funny and curious stories.

Hans Haage, our Head of Prefabrication, explains:

Between the electroplating shop and the elevator, there's a room without doors. There's simply no way into this room. We kept wondering what this room could be, and at some point, by chance, we discovered that you can enter this room through a manhole cover in the warehouse. We won't be going in there again—it's the old septic tank for the electroplating shop.

And there's a lot more strange about MAWA. Anyone from Pfaffenhofen will have probably already noticed that the MAWA parking lot is somewhat slanted. Literally, because people park at an angle. And it's an unwritten rule that everyone adheres to it. Georg Hafner learned what happens when you don't on his first day. He parked straight instead of at an angle, and after just 20 minutes, his major faux pas was pointed out.

Since then, I ALWAYS park diagonally according to the rules – I don’t dare do it a second time.

Mrs. Gutensohn from the immersion heater also has a similarly funny story. In the past, MAWA had a bright green bracket. Unfortunately, a colleague was standing directly in front of the pump when another employee turned it on. The employee was green from head to toe. When his wife picked him up, she, of course, wouldn't let him into the car like that. So, the colleagues wrapped him completely in plastic wrap.
